The Story Behind the Art
Celebrate history, community, and the artistry of Bob Timberlake with his newest signed print release, Ella’s Bridge Club. Measuring approximately 11” high by 15” wide, this special edition artwork is available framed or unframed beginning October 4th, 2025.
The painting pays tribute to the Charity League of Lexington, NC, which was founded in 1935 by Bob’s mother, Ella, and eight close friends during the hardships of the Great Depression. Their mission was simple yet powerful: to help children in need during difficult times. To honor the League’s 90th Anniversary, Bob drew inspiration from a cherished childhood memory. When he was five years old, his father, Casper, playfully referred to the sound of Ella’s bridge club as “a room full of hens clucking.” That lighthearted moment, combined with Bob’s recent painting of hens in a basket, sparked the vision for Ella’s Bridge Club. The piece features nine hens — one for each of the nine founding members — serving as both a work of art and a timeless story of community compassion.
This signed-only release carries extra meaning: a significant portion of proceeds will be donated directly to the Charity League as they continue their legacy of service. Funds will support their 65th Holiday House & Bazaar at Curran Alexander Vineyards, held November 21–22, marking the first since COVID-19.
Ella’s Bridge Club is more than a collectible Timberlake print; it is a vibrant slice of Lexington history, family storytelling, and enduring generosity. Whether you choose the framed or unframed option, you are not only acquiring a piece of art but also helping preserve a tradition of community giving that has lasted nearly a century.
